Actress and Bigg Boss OTT contestant Urfi Javed shared a picture with Bollywood lyricist, screenwriter and poet Javed Akhtar on Sunday. For those unversed, Urfi was referred to as the veteran lyricist’s granddaughter on various occasions.
Taking to her Instagram story, Urfi shared the picture and wrote, “Finally met my grandfather today. Also, he is a legend, right in the morning so many people lined up for selfies but he didn’t refuse anyone, chatted with everyone with a smile. He was so warm! I’m in awe.”
A few months back, Urfi was spotted at Mumbai airport donning a white t-shirt which had ‘Not Javed Akhtar’s Granddaughter’ written on it after several social media users assumed she is Akhtar’s granddaughter.
Veteran actress Shabana Azmi had also rubbished the rumours and tweeted, “Urfi Javed is not related to us in any way.”
Urfi has also time and again clarified that she is in no way associated with Javed Akhtar. Talking about the same she had earlier stated, “People have cooked up stories just because my name is Urfi Javed. But he was never associated with me in any way.”
Urfi has been making headlines for her sartorial choices. From open bust cropped top to unbuttoned pant, the diva’s looks have time and again raised a few eyebrows. She has also often hit back at those criticising her fashion statement and called herself a ‘pro’ in dealing with the trolls. She said that when she wears an outfit she loves, she doesn’t care about what others say.
She found herself in endless controversies in 2022, right from politicians and activists lodging complaints and FIRs against her to trolls sending rape and death threats, and this year is no different.
The new year began on a not-so-good note for Urfi as BJP leader Chitra Wagh filed a police complaint against her for “promoting nudity” on the streets of Mumbai.
