Urvashi Dholakia: ‘Grey characters sell… so I put my face to those’
“My final audition was taken by Amar (Upadhyay) sir himself. I was told that you have to come for the audition, which will be conducted by the director and the D.O.P. There was one more girl with me. We were waiting for the director, and suddenly Amar sir walked in, and I was completely surprised. I knew him as a senior actor. He told me that he would be taking my audition. I felt nervous at that moment. Luckily, the audition went well, and after a few hours, he called me and asked, ‘Are you available for a month?’ and I said yes. That’s when he told me, ‘You’ve been chosen to play Kavya, the show’s lead’,” she recalls.
Priyanka grew up with the dream of becoming an actor. Working on this show as a lead actor is like a dream come true for her. “I was always passionate about acting. I never had a plan B. It is like a dream come true, and what better way to start than working opposite Amar sir? The concept of the show is great. I’m happy and blessed that I’m getting to play this character every day. With each passing day, I’m getting to learn new things, and it feels amazing,” she says.
When asked about her experience of working with Amar she says it’s a pleasure working with him. “The experience has been great. After our first mock shoot I asked him (Amar) if he was doing any show and he told me that he is producing Kyunkii.. and acting as well. I always had that pressure on my shoulders, as he is the producer as well as an actor in the show. I learn a lot of things from him every day,” says the actress in conclusion.
