A shocking incident emerged out of Madhya Pradesh on Monday. A man from the state’s Shahdol district was forced to tie his dead mother’s body to a motorcycle and ride it back to his village 80 km away as the district hospital didn’t provide a hearse van, reportedly due to his inability to pay the Rs 5000 fee.
Two brothers, who came to to the Shahdol Medical College from the Anuppur district for their mother’s treatment, claimed that their mother died due to a lack of proper treatment. To add insult to injury, the hospital reportedly refused to provide a hearse van for transportation of her body.

Jaimantri Yadav was admitted to the district hospital after complaining of chest pain. Her condition detiorated, and she passed away in the late hours of the night. Her son, Sundar Yadav, accused the district hospital’s nurses of negligent treatment and blamed the medical hospital management for his mother’s death.
NDTV reported that the two were forced to buy a wooden slab for Rs 100, tie their mother’s body to it, and transport it on bike for 80 km to their native village, Gudaru, in the Anuppur district.
This is the latest incident highlighting shortfalls in medical facilities in the state, which have surfaced time and again.
