Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who has time and again locked horns with Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar, unleashed some scathing remarks on their latest release ‘Brahmastra Part-1: Shiva’, which was released on Friday.
In a series of Instagram stories, Kangana took potshots at the film’s director Ayan Mukerji and alleged that he changed the title of ‘Brahmastra Part I’ from ‘Jalaluddin Rumi’ to ‘Shiva’ after witnessing the success of ‘Baahubali’, in which Prabhas essayed the role of Shivudu.
She wrote on Instagram, “Everyone who called @ayanmukerji a genius should be jailed immediately… he took 12 years to make this film, he replaced 14 DOP’s he shot for more than 400 days for this film and changed 85 AD’s and burnt 600 crores to ashes… Also tried to exploit religious sentiments by changing the film name from Jalaluddin Rumi to Shiva last minute, because of ‘Baahubali’ success… Such opportunists, such creativity deprived people, success-starved greedy people if called geniuses then it’s not manipulation but a well thought of a strategy to call din ko raat and raat ko din…”
Further taking a dig at producer Karan Johar, Kangana stated, “People like Karan Johar should be questioned for their conduct, he is more interested in everyone’s sex life than in his films scripts, he self admittedly buys reviews, stars and fake collection numbers and tickets… this time around he tried to ride Hinduism and south wave… all turned Pujaris suddenly and begged south actors, writers and directors to promote their film… they will do everything but not hire competent writer, director, actors and other talent… why not in the first place hire those they went begging to fix this disaster called Brahmastra.”
‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’ is set in modern-day India, against the premise of a secret society called the Brahmansh; who generation after generation have protected many divine ‘Astras’ (weapons) that were created in ancient India, and are safeguarded from the eyes of the world.
The most powerful and the deadliest amongst these divine weapons; the Lord of all the Other Astras – named after the most powerful weapon of the Gods, the Brahmastra, is now waking up. And it threatens to completely destroy the universe we know today.
Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, the film also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and south actor Nagarjuna in the lead roles. It also has Shah Rukh Khan in an extended cameo.
The film hit the screens on September 9, 2022, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
