Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who earlier extended her support to the new Twitter owner, Elon Musk’s decision to charge USD 8 a month to get verified accounts, despite her account on the microblogging platform being suspended, has now taken potshots at Instagram.
Kangana, who boasts 9.5 million followers on Instagram labelled it as ‘dumb’. She wrote in her stories, “Dumb Instagram is about pictures, whatever opinion one writes disappears next day as if everyone is a fickle, frivolous dumbo, who doesn’t want to see what he or she wrote a day before because they anyway don’t mean what they say, so it (should) rather disappear.”
“But what about some of us, who mean everything they say and want to document their thoughts for people, who care to delve into them, start a dialogue or conversation. These are mini blogs, which should be open for interpretations for the sake of the growth of the subject, and the object, both,” she added.
Previously, Kangana heaped praises on Twitter calling the social media platform as intellectually and ideologically motivated. She termed it as the “best” and said that anybody who has an aadhar card “must get” a verified blue tick.
In May 2021, Kangana’s Twitter account was ‘permanently suspended for repeated violation of Twitter rules. The suspension came after the actress had made an incendiary post, claiming that the victory of the Mamata Banerjee-led All India Trinamool Congress in the Assembly election of West Bengal had led to violence.
Meanwhile, on the film front, Kangana will be next seen in ‘Tejas’ and in the period drama film ‘Emergency’ which also marks her first solo directorial film.
