Actress Amala Paul, who is best known for movies like ‘Ratsasan’, ‘Aame’, and ‘Cadaver’ to name a few, recently revealed that she was also approached for Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.
In an interview with ETimes, Amala said that she auditioned for the film quite early but turned it down since she wasn’t in the mental state of doing the project.
“If you ask me if I regret doing that, I won’t, because certain things are just perfect. It’s perfectly designed and I think it’s just about how we look at,” she shared.
‘Ponniyin Selvan: 1’ is a cinematic adaptation of author Kalki Krishnamurthy’s Tamil novel of the same name which was released in the form of a series during the 1950s.
It is a glorious film that narrates the story of India’s greatest empire, the Cholas.
The film stars Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Sarath Kumar, and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
The first part of the film is set to hit screens on September 30 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Meanwhile, Amala Paul recently headlined the news after she filed a complaint against her estranged friend Bhavninder Singh Dhatt for allegedly cheating her in a business deal and threatening to upload her photos on social media.
According to ANI, Villupuram Crime branch police arrested Bhavninder Singh.
In November 2020, Amala filed a defamation case against Bhavninder for sharing their private pictures on social media. The ‘VIP 2’ actress had alleged that Bhavninder had claimed that they were married. It was also reported at that time that after deleting the pictures, Bhavinder threatened Amala of uploading more pictures and demanded money from her.
